A campaign promise is a declaration made by a candidate to the public through the media, a manifesto, program document or in a rally with the assurance that he or she is going to contribute to or implement if voted for.

The chair of the committee may decide to hold a hearing in order to examine the legislation. GAMBIA RECORDS BUDGET SURPLUS OF 1.5 BILLION IN 2023 FISCAL YEAR
As dictated by Order 94 (1) of the Standing Order of The National Assembly of The Gambia. Which reads ‘’The Vice President or a Minister with responsibility for Finance shall, at least once during each session of the Assembly, make an oral ministerial statement to the Assembly on the implementation and monitoring of the annual budget.’’ The Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs on Monday, 4th March 2024, appeared before law makers to give a statement on the Implementation of the 2023 fiscal year budget.

HON. GIBBA SAYS LAW TO BAN FGM IS DISCRIMINATORY
The National Assembly member for Foni Kansala, Hon. Almameh Gibba, has tabled the Women (Amendment) Bill 2024 aimed at lifting the ban on Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in The Gambia. This bill has sparked a lot of confusion among the public, especially Islamic groups and activists who have made their stand clear for the practice to be criminalized.

BILL TO REPEAL FGM LAW SET TO BE TABLED IN PARLIAMENT
A bill seeking to repeal the Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) law in The Gambia is set to be presented in Parliament by Hon. Almameh Gibba, the member for Foni Kansala. The issue gained prominence when Hon. Sulayman Saho, the member for Central Baddibu, highlighted it during a session in 2023.
