The National Youth Parliament-The Gambia (NYP) is a non- partisan, non- profit youth organization that was established as an advocacy, development oriented and youth empowerment institution that will immensely contribute towards the development of the youth and the proper management of their welfares through their active participation and involvement in decision making and implementation of programs. This body lays a foundation to connect young people with policy makers, government, private sector, civil society organizations, the media and all the relevant stakeholders to discuss issues affecting young people and find solutions to them, operating in various thematic areas of Good Governance and Democracy, Reproductive Health, Environmental Protection, Gender Mainstreaming, Migration, Peace-building, Interfaith and Road Safety.
- Promote the active participation of the youth in national and local development efforts and initiatives;
- Advocate for the inclusion of the youth and matters affecting them in national governance and public affairs, and the consideration of youth-specific needs in all policy areas
- Serve as centre for mobilising, harmonising, formalising, recognising, legitimising, utilising, and prioritising the voices and actions of young people in the advancement of youth and a platform for youth to articulate and share their vision and aspiration about national development and governance;
- Partner with the Government and other local and international organizations with a focus on youth development, to advance the rights of the youth and ensure a relevant, impactful and unified youth development agenda across the country;
- Recommend appropriate solutions to the Government regarding matters affecting the youth;
- Provide advisory services to key Government, international and national NGOs and other multinational agencies on matters affecting the youth;
